Course Overview

This bundle brings together two complementary courses to help organisations strengthen their security, preparedness, and resilience.

Delegates will complete the Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management course (RCD) over three days, live via Zoom. You will build the confidence on how to effectively manage a crisis and to help prevent unexpected incidents. You will also develop the skills to respond to incidents, manage disruption and support business recovery.  

The SFJ Awards Level 2 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Awareness (CTPSA) course is designed for those working in public-facing roles, the course provides an awareness of how to recognise potential threats, identify suspicious behaviour, and what to do in the event of an incident. During the course, learners will be equipped with an understanding of how to report concerns appropriately and the steps required should an incident occur.

Together, these two programmes provide a practical end-to-end resilience pathway for today’s evolving risk landscape.

After attending the Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management course, delegates will have up to six months to book and attend the SFJ Awards Level 2 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Awareness course which is a one day course delivered via Zoom.

Should any learners wish to proceed with a more detailed course in counter-terrorism, we also offer a classroom-based course SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness designed in partnership with the National Counter-Terrorism Security Office and the only qualification endorsed by CTP and NaCTSO.

Risk, crisis and disaster management core content

Designed for those working in public-facing roles, the course provides an awareness of how to recognise potential threats, identify suspicious behaviour, and what to do in the event of an incident. During the course, learners will be equipped with an understanding of how to report concerns appropriately and the steps required should an incident occur. Through practical guidance and real-world context, this qualification supports organisations in strengthening their safety culture from the bottom upwards by ensuring all staff that interact with the public – in roles such as hospitality, facilities, front of house and security – understand their responsibility in mitigating risk and responding to security incidents.

Who will benefit?

This qualification is for those with responsibility for venues, sites and organisations and who want a better understanding of counter-terrorism (CT) in preparation for the implementation of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law). There are no pre-requisites to joining the programme. ​

Teaching & Assessment

Learners will receive two certificates upon successful completion: An SRF BTEC Level 4 Certificate for completing the Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management course, and an SFJ Awards Level 2 Award upon completion of the CTPSA course.

This is a tutor-led course comprising 3 days virtual training and one day virtual training. The assessment methods for this qualification are as follows. 

Risk, Crisis and Disaster Management: 
For the SRF BTEC Level 4 accreditation, assessment is via a workbook and a written case study. This can be completed either during the course or up to two weeks after completion of the training. Your course tutor will guide you on getting the very best from this course and the assessment modules, which helps to ensure you leave the course with the confidence to act effectively in a crisis incident.

SFJ Awards Level 2 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Awareness: 
This is a tutor-led course comprising one day virtual classroom training. The assessment methods for this qualification are set by SFJ Awards, and consist of:
