Perpetuity delivers counter-terrorism training with Diamond Security Systems

We’re pleased to announce the successful first delivery of the Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness in partnership with Diamond Security Systems in Northern Ireland.

Delivered by Perpetuity’s experienced tutor Kevin Jewell, the programme provided delegates with a comprehensive understanding of counter-terrorism principles, protective security measures and incident preparedness.

The training covered a range of key topics, including understanding the terrorist threat, conducting risk assessments, implementing physical and personnel security measures, and developing effective preparedness and response plans. Delegates also gained valuable insight into the role that proactive security planning plays in protecting people, operations and reputation.

Working in partnership with Diamond Security Systems delegates were a mix of health and safety professionals, security professionals, and premises operators and managers. They manage safety at some of Northern Irelands largest venues, across wide estates and within iconic buildings. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to raising standards and helping organisations build greater resilience against the challenges posed by terrorism and hostile threats.

Taking a proactive approach on the expectations of Martyn’s Law as well as consideration of the UK’s current terrorist threat level, Diamond Security Systems have taken steps to build resiliency and preparedness in security professionals, ensuring readiness.

As part of the programme, Kevin led learners through an outdoor music festival scenario, where delegates got the chance to put their learning into practice. Learners had to think outside the box and question their assumptions. Delegates produced risk assessments and a preparedness plan, culminating in counter-terrorism risk recommendations for a fictitious but realistic scenario. This practical application of learning increases learning retention rates and provides reinforcement through table-top exercises in a structured environment so delegates can feel more confident applying the work in their own roles after training.

Feedback from learners highlighted the practical nature of the training and the relevance of the content to their day-to-day roles. By combining strategic understanding with actionable guidance, the course empowers learners to apply counter-terrorism protective security principles within their own organisations and roles.

We would like to thank Diamond Security Systems for their support and collaboration in delivering this programme and congratulate all delegates who successfully completed the qualification.
