- What is the difference between the PGDip and the MSc?
The PGDip follows the same structure as the MSc but does not include the dissertation. Instead, it focuses on the five taught modules.
- How long does the PGDip take to complete?
The PGDip is a part-time course that takes around 17 months to complete.
- Can I switch from the PGDip to the MSc later?
Yes, you may be able to transfer from the PGDip to the MSc depending on where you are in the course; this is however yet to be confirmed. If you intend on transferring, please notify us as soon as possible as transferring might impact your fee.
- If I complete the PGDip and wish to also complete the dissertation later to obtain the full MSc, can I do so?
At present, PGDip graduates who wish to complete the MSc must re-enrol onto the MSc programme, transferring up to 100 credits. This means they would need to retake the fifth module (Research Methods) before undertaking the dissertation. We are also exploring a dissertation top-up option for those who wish to return and complete the MSc, but this will depend on demand.
- What are the entry requirements?
The entry requirements are the same as for the MSc.
- How much does the PGDip cost?
The total cost of the PGDip is £6,600. Students have the option of either paying the full course fee upfront at the time of enrolment or split this in half, i.e. £3,300 in Year 1 and £3,300 in Year 2. Students can further split the half payment in 3 equal tranches of £1,100 which they can set up with the Finance Team at UWL.
- What are the funding options available for the PGDip?
Unfortunately, unlike the MSc, the PGDip is not eligible for Student Finance funding, as it is not a full master’s degree.
