On Thursday, May 15, 2025, PerpetuityARC Training marked a significant milestone in the security sector with the launch of the new SFJ Awards Level 4 Protective Security Adviser (PSA) Certificate. The exclusive event was held at The Shard in London, bringing together industry leaders, security professionals, and stakeholders to celebrate this pivotal development.
A Step Forward in Security Training
The Level 4 PSA is designed to provide learners with the baseline knowledge and skills required to carry out the role of a Protective Security Adviser. This qualification equips delegates with the competencies to understand how the protective security disciplines dovetail to provide the foundations of ‘security convergence’. This is the first qualification to be endorsed by all three of the government’s National Technical Authorities: National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), UK National Authority for Counter Eavesdropping (NACE) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The qualification aims to bridge the gap between operational security and strategic security management, ensuring that professionals are equipped to handle the complexities of modern security challenges by taking a converged approach to operational security.
Insights from the Launch Event
The launch event featured a series of presentations and panel discussions led by SME experts including representatives from the Home Office, NACE, NPSA and The Security Institute. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with panellists and gain insights into their respective areas of protective security and education. The event shared insights into current insider threats and underscored the importance of continuous professional development for employees.

Looking Ahead
The introduction of the Level 4 PSA Certificate represents a forward-thinking approach to security training, aligning with the industry’s need for adaptable and skilled professionals. Developed by a Trailblazer group, the Level 4 PSA Certificate will play a crucial role in preparing the security workforce to meet these challenges head-on.
Emma Shaw, Managing Director of Mitie Intelligence Services comments: “The launch of the Level 4 Certificate for Protective Security Advisers is a much-anticipated step towards upskilling the industry, making security a career of choice and strengthening national security capabilities.
We are proud to be the first to deliver this qualification, and to be providing the training for such an important mission. With options for both industry newcomers and existing security professionals to access the qualification, we hope it will set a high bar across the board.”
