You will gain an understanding of policy and best-practice techniques that security professionals should adopt. To give extra insight, you have a choice of elective modules. This gives you flexibility in your learning, helping the course to be relevant to your goals.

From discussing the formation of risk, to analysing potential causes and prevention of crime, this course is a must for those either new to their role, or for experienced security professionals who perhaps haven’t worked at an academic level for some time.

This is an online training course made up of six modules, three of which are mandatory and three chosen from elective modules.

Core Modules

  • Introduction to Security Management

An introduction to security management, exploring the key concepts in risk management, and building and maintaining sustainable security systems. You’ll also take a look at the concept of how security can add value to an organisation – essential in today’s corporate security sector.

  • Security Department Management

An understanding of management principles is vital to the operation of a security team. Explore the role of management, as well as the financial, HR and operational skills and techniques needed to manage staff and resources.

  • Information Security

Information takes many forms. It can be stored on computers, transmitted across networks, displayed on screens, printed out, written down, or spoken during conversation. Information is under threat from unauthorised access and must be protected. In this module, you will look at information security from the non-technical point of view of the security or business manager, who has a responsibility for the security of information.

Elective Modules (choose three)

  • Health & Safety
  • Retail Security
  • Strategic Security
  • Physical Security
  • Terrorism Awareness & Management
  • Risk, Crisis & Disaster Management
